United States Air Force-AIT PMO
The Air Force needs to meet a Department of Defense (DoD) mandate to provide Unique Identification (UID) markings on all Air Force assets, and Evanhoe & Associates is currently a contractor providing Automatic Identification Technology (AIT) solutions across the Air Force inventory process to aid in meeting this mandate. Evanhoe & Associates has developed software applications to install on hand-held part-marking devices, as well as prepared existing asset inventory records for review and validation. Evanhoe & Associates’ software works both as a stand-alone and in an integrated mode to support the Air Force’s Enterprise Data Collection Layer (EDCL), the future part-marking method to support data collection and transmission.
Evanhoe & Associates developed a software application and Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) for use on Air Force hand-held devices. The hand-helds are pre-loaded with the base’s equipment inventory records before delivery to the customer. The application does initial data validation of records against the federal register, and allows the user to identify, correct, and update any discrepancies that may occur. The GUIs also provide entry screens for the part-marker to input the asset information from the part and to apply the UID tag. Upon completion of the part-marking activity, the application allows the Equipment Custodian to review and approve the asset record changes that resulted from part-marking. Evanhoe & Associates has developed a stand-alone version of the software to support the legacy systems by providing corrected asset records to the equipment management system, but the application also integrates with the Air Force’s Enterprise Data Collection Layer (EDCL).
The Air Force is also developing and deploying an enterprise-level ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system within their logistics community, and one of its key risks is the need to ensure the integrity of the legacy data loaded into the ERP system. Evanhoe & Associates is actively engaged in this initiative, working with the program management office to leverage the data management efforts of the UID part-marking activities. Evanhoe & Associates provides both inventory data extracts and data quality reports for this analysis that are relied upon by the ERP program to assess the data cleansing effectiveness at different stages of the part-marking activity.
